# Gratin > Your personal recipe book — save recipes from anywhere, organise them, plan meals, and build grocery lists. Gratin is a free, local-first recipe manager available on macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. ## What it does - Save recipes from any website using the Chrome extension or by pasting a URL - View recipes with photos, ingredients, method, cook time, and ratings - Organise recipes into collections and magazines - Build grocery lists that are automatically sorted by aisle - Plan meals for the week - Create dinner party menus with courses (appetiser, main, side, dessert) - Import recipes from other apps (Paprika and more) - Search and filter your recipe collection ## How it works All data is stored locally on your device. There is no Gratin account and no central server storing your recipes. Sync between devices uses Evolu (https://evolu.dev), an open-source protocol based on CRDTs (Conflict-free Replicated Data Types). Sync messages are end-to-end encrypted — the relay server passes messages between devices but cannot read any of your data. You can use the default public relay, a self-hosted Gratin relay, or any Evolu-compatible relay. You can also turn sync off entirely. If Gratin stopped existing, your data would still be on your device in a standard format. ## Privacy - No account, email, or password required - No analytics, tracking, or advertising - No data stored on Gratin servers - Sync data is end-to-end encrypted - Full privacy policy: https://gratin.app/privacy ## Links - Website: https://gratin.app - Privacy policy: https://gratin.app/privacy - Evolu (sync protocol): https://evolu.dev ## Downloads - macOS (Apple Silicon): https://updates.gratin.app/downloads/Gratin_latest_aarch64.dmg - macOS (Intel): https://updates.gratin.app/downloads/Gratin_latest_x86_64.dmg - Windows: https://updates.gratin.app/downloads/Gratin_latest_x64-setup.exe ## Contact consult@reb.nz
